Saturno Devorando a su Hijo

Inspired by the magnificent Francisco Goya painting of the same name alongside the truly haunting tale surrounding it's discovery.

- Saturno Devorando a su Hijo -

If only time would be so unkind
to men and gods alike. We know
Saturn clutched no silver spoon
as he ate both his sons alive;
His holiness, now supper-less
gnaws bones in the dining room.

A god of time with a nervous tick,
fell graceless into frame.
His hair long grown, black gums bare,
sucking Spanish painted blood.
Do the bitter dreams of Orthys (home)
Still chase him up the walls?

Deaf artists heard the unspoken truth
bled plainly from their brush:
God rides the same bus we all do,
drinks the same goon each night.
Sips the awkward blood of his only son
in the T.V’s dying light.
